10 minuta (10 Minutes, Bosnia & Herzegovina, 2002)

Here you can watch Ahmed Imamovic's short film "10 minuta" which won him the Best European Short Film Award in 2002. If you want to know more about his latest film, please read my review of "Go West".

This is a great short film, and a very clever idea. While they're breaking "world records" in film developing with the latest technology in Rome, in Sarajevo they're risking their lives for the basic essentials, trading cigarettes for bread and dodging snipers just to get fresh water...it's no surprise that shortly after this Imamovic came up with Go West, which is equally stellar.

But just watching it again on You Tube I noticed that it actually presents nine minutes in each city, plus a minute or so for the credits, not ten as the title would indicate...just a small criticism...

I suppose they aren't as punctual as the Germans down there in Bosnia :)

Ha! And I'm sure during the siege 9 minutes actually felt like ten, or more like 90...
and since it was only 9 minutes, that means that that photo-developing shop just set a NEW world record! ;-)
